I enjoyed the article. I agree with the four main points. But, this can be said of any meeting from family gatherings to corporate board rooms. So the article points out some nice antidotes and a general rule of thumb on when it’s okay to skip a retrospective. But, it would be nice to follow-up the article with why people are generally disengaged from meetings (SCRUM is not immune).

The cool thing for me about retrospectives is that it’s an awesome forum to ‘sharpen the saw’ as Covey puts it. If you are a software developer and you are not into sharpening the saw, then it might be time for a career change.
